OGUN STATE MANDATES USE OF FACE MASK
I must not but return all glory and adoration to God Almighty for sparing our lives till this moment and for not abandoning us all in this nation despite our sins.
My appreciation also goes to the federal, state and local government, cooperate organizations, groups and various individuals who have been collectively fighting this Covid-19 global pandemic which is ravaging the entire world at the moment.
Few days ago, President Muhammad Buhari urged the cooperate organizations to join the state government in donating and sharing of face mask to the general public.
Due to the astronomical rise in the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19, the Ogun State government however mandated the use of face mask within the state to contain the spread of the deadly pandemic.
Take it or leave it, the government should be aware by now that some individuals can't afford one meal per day not to talk of getting a face mask as cheap as it is.
May I use this medium to beseech the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun to follow the order of the Federal Government and provide face mask for the general public before the enforcement just as he had earlier promised the general public.
Just weeks back, on face mask, Governor Dapo Abiodun said and I quote, “We will also begin to distribute face masks to those who cannot afford to buy, in addition to other materials to our vulnerable groups across the State”.
"Any Resident of the state caught without wearing facemask will be arrested and quarantined for 14 days".
"Any market where face mask is not enforced will be closed" such statements are disheartening, harsh and uncalled for without the provision of promised face mask to the traders out there.
It's also pertinent to unequivocally state here that in any saner clime no government would dare mandate the general public in such manner without putting palliative measures in place but it's rather unfortunate that the reverse is the case in our dear and great state and country, Nigeria.
